Affiliation News

Due to the rapidly changing health care industry, LCHCS is exploring a partner affiliation to enhance and sustain high-quality health care services in Laurens County. These discussions started in July of 2011 and the Board of Trustees has followed a detailed, disciplined process to make sure any decision is in the best interest of the people of Laurens County and the LCHCS family.

The LCHCS Board established Five-Star Relationship criteria to use when considering affiliation partners.

  • Share the LCHCS mission to deliver progressive health care in an atmosphere of continuous improvement,
  • Enhance services currently provided,
  • Add services not currently available in Laurens County,
  • Be a demonstrated leader in quality, and
  • Practice values consistent with those of LCHCS to build compatibility between medical staffs.

What's next?

After reviewing affiliation proposals from four health care systems, the Board of Trustees narrowed the selection to two and then finally, on September 25, 2012 the Board elected to enter into exclusive negotiations with Greenville Hospital System. Such negotiations could take several months. No affiliation is final until the LCHCS Board of Trustees approves a final contract.
